UDPATE: The rainfall for Thanksgiving was 0.37 inches so… not Top 5. Late start to the rain held the totals down.
=====
This Thanksgiving could go down among the wetter ones in Seattle history.
While we very likely won’t set the record for the wettest Thanksgiving, there is a decent chance we could reach into the Top 5.
The wettest Thanksgiving at Sea-Tac was on Nov. 26, 2009 at 1.34 inches of rain.
Rounding out the Top 5:
2. Nov. 23, 1950: 1.13”
3. Nov. 25, 1954 1.00”
4. Nov. 24, 1960 0.96”
5. Nov. 24, 1965 0.73”
(Tie) Nov. 23, 1995 0.73”
The latest Euro model has pegs 0.72” in Seattle for Thanksgiving Day so it’ll be close.
HOWEVER! This year should EASILY become the wettest Thanksgiving on record in Seattle… when Thanksgiving falls on November 27th.
In fact, it’s only rained four times when Thanksgiving was on the 27th, the wettest being 1980 when 0.39″ fell.
The other Thanksgiving-on-November-27th years?
2014: 0.13″
2003: 0.02″
2008: 0.01″
Something to add to our Thanksgiving dinner discussion: Where will this year’s Thanksgiving Day rank or wettest on record?
