Wx Community

Tim Durkan Photography

Seattle and Western Washington is a special place to live and I for one here absolutely love our cool and rainy marine climate. But while we are lucky to avoid the severe weather outbreaks and hurricanes that are an annual ritual back east, that doesn’t mean forecasting the weather here is any less challenging.

In that regard, we are blessed to have some amazing meteorologists and weather enthusiasts around here who are working to build a strong community and are eager to keep our region up to date on the latest weather. I encourage you to check out these folks too — the more you know, the better informed you’ll be, and the safer you’ll be when the weather gets dangerous.  Give ’em a look and maybe follow/subscribe/bookmark click too!

Other Seattle area weather enthusiasts:

Washington Weather Chasers (Ben Jurkovich) | YouTube
Whatcom County Weather  (Randy Small / Sean Wheeler)
Cliff Mass Blog (University of Washington Atmospheric Sciences professor)
Pacific Northwest Weather Watch (Michael Snyder)
Western Washington Weather Group  (Matthew Pfab) | YouTube
Puget Sound Storm Watch (Anthony Croyle) | YouTube
University of Washington DawgCast (Run by current Atmospheric Sciences students)
Whidbey Island Weather (Jonathan Pulley)
Seattle Weather Blog (Justin Shaw)
Joe Boomgaard-Zagrodnik (Bluesky)

AND I want to also give a big shout out to the local weather photography community. They were the inspiration behind the uber popular “Legion of Zoom” Facebook group we created while I was at KOMO years ago and many of them are supporting my blog today allowing me to use their photos here. (If you’d like to be a part of the ECWB photo contributor team too, let me know!)
