Saturday night’s wind storm will take the honor of the strongest one of the young season so far. Here’s a recap:
- The low center came onshore north of Hoquaim, where peak wind gusts registered 77 and 73 mph. Westport clocked separate gusts of 71, 70, 70 and 69 mph.
- Tacoma Narrows had a peak gust of 66 mph which was the strongest gust in the Puget Sound area.
- Sea-Tac Airport’s peak gust of 56 mph was strongest gust since Dec. 18, 2024 (also 56 mph)
- Over 265,000 were without power at storm’s peak in Washington, according to poweroutage.com.
- One person was killed and several others were injured when a tree fell during an outdoor Halloween festival in eastern Pierce County.
- WSP: A 17 mile road closure on SR 105 from Tokeland to Raymond was in effect due to multiple downed trees and powerlines.
- Washington State Patrol reported multiple trees down across several counties.

Westport: 71 mph
Tacoma/Gig Harbor (Narrows Bridge): 66 mph
Port Townsend: 60 mph
Whidbey Island NAS: 56 mph
Sea-Tac Airport: 56 mph
Seattle/West Point/Magnolia: 54 mph
Seattle/Boeing Field: 52 mph
West Seattle: 51 mph
Black Diamond: 50 mph
Enumclaw: 50 mph
Everett: 49 mph
Bellingham: 47 mph
Shelton: 47 mph
Fort Lewis/Tacoma: 46 mph
Olympia: 46 mph

The storm will focused on wind and heavy showers around much of Western Washington, but over on the south Washington Coast and much of the Oregon Coast, thunderstorms had enough power to become strong to severe with a minor risk of damaging winds and waterspouts/shoreline tornadoes.
I guess summer is over.
Hearing some flights were diverted from Seatac. Apparently a 737 from JFK landed in Yakima.
